On February 26, 10:00 - 13:00, at the proposal of the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Mr. Marcello Apicella, at the ISSAPP "N. Poushkarov" (Garbuchev Hall), an official meeting was held between representatives of the Diagram S.p.A Company, part of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti group - a leader in Italy and Europe in the field of digital and technological solutions for the agricultural and technological sector, and experts in the field of soil mapping at the institute.

Prof. Irena Atanassova, presented the activities of the institute, and Prof. Bozhidar Georgiev presented the experience of scientists in the field of soil mapping. The meeting discussed the possibilities of precision agriculture in the assessment of basic soil characteristics and nutrients within soil regions and a specific agricultural field, remote sensing of crops and the use of vegetation indices to assess fertilization needs, as well as a presentation by the Italian experts of spatial maps and data on soil erosion in Italy. Opportunities for future cooperation between the Poushkarov Institute and the company under European programs were discussed.

     Dear colleagues, friends and nature lovers, for the eleventh time the Pushkarov Institute celebrates its professional holiday - World Soil Day - December 5^th - "Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities" and a conference in the building of the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria, which was our host and co-organizer of the event. Our honored guests once again were the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco - Her Excellency Mrs. Zakia El Midaoui, the Ambassador of Switzerland - His Excellency Mr. Pierre Hagmann, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food - Mr. Ivan Kapitanov, the Deputy Mayor of Sofia - Mrs. Nadezhda Bobcheva and other prominent leaders of institutions, associations, industries and companies in Bulgaria. All attendees expressed their conviction about the leading role of soil resources for food security, protection of climate, air and water from natural and anthropogenic impacts, acknowledged the fact of progressive soil degradation and the need for their protection and restoration. We also paid attention to the new European Soil Monitoring Law, which introduces a monitoring framework and pays special attention to soil sealing, pollution and land takeover.

     I believe that the forum once again convinced us scientists, farmers and industry that scientific research should help achieve good soil health and be accessible and applicable by end users. I wish everyone health and new creative achievements for healthier soils and a clean environment.
